On Board a traditional Maldivian vessel “Dhoni” you will catch mainly emperors, snappers, squirrelfish, mackerel species, jacks and other reef fish.

By booking a guest house on a local island you will discover the real Maldivian culture and taste a bit of the Maldivian life. Most of the guest houses arrange scheduled fishing trips during the week days. You can  also request your guest house to arrange a tailor made fishing trip according to your wishes and depending on your fishing mood. Your fishing guide is generally someone from the island just as passionate as you about fishes

Shore fishing usually involves live bait fishing, fly fishing, and beach casting using braid line and wire for lure fishing. Favorite fish that can be caught with shore fishing include a variety of reef fish, beam, bonefish, barracuda, small groupers, snappers and jacks or trevally. Verities of baits are used including cut fish pieces, bread or flour rolls

Be careful to choose quality but not overpriced lures as they tend to get damaged by the corals.

Fishing lines and hooks are available in local shops in local islands at low price which you can use throughout your stay in a local islands.

Sand banks area deposit of sand forming a shallow area in the sea. Sandbank is very tiny sandy island, surrounded by amazing sparkling sea in the most beautiful shades of blue and green water. You can swim there, snorkel and of course sunbath and relax

The cafés – locally known as hotaa is the best place if you would like to savour the local tastes. You must not leave the Maldives before trying out at least a few of the Maldivian short eats known locally as hedhika. Many of these are unique to the Maldives and come in sweet, sour and spicy varieties.
